CAN'T SYOP EATING!!!

I am currently 20 weeks pregnant and my appetite seems to have gone through the roof. Every day I seem to be having breakfast, a mid morning snack, lunch, mid afternoon snack, dinner and then lots of evening snacks too. I just never seem to be full, and even if I do manage to fill myself up within an hour or so I find I am hungary again. I haven't gained much weight really so far about 6 lbs but I fear that if I carry on like this I will put on loads of weight for sure. Any one else have this prob too? Will it get better later in the pregnancy do you think?

Hello there, i'm the same, i cant seem to stop eating, i'm only 11 weeks at the mo. before i was pregnant i never used to eat alot but still managed to put weight on if i looked at a chocalate bar but now, i'm 61kg's, have been since i got pregnant. i feel as though i'm eating for three! good thing though, i'm craving fruit, i've eaten more in the last three weeks than i have all my life, i've only been up for 5 hours but already i've eaten, big bowl of cereal, 2 marmite sandwiches, half a punnet of cherries, bout 15 big strawberries, 2 packet of crisps and a nectarine. i know fruit is good for you but can eating too much fruit be bad for you as it's all i want at the mo. i just know before the days out i'l have another nectarine, banana, couple kiwi's, and a few little oranges and an apple. can you overdose on vitamin c!? what does it do long term? any advice would be great.
I would check with your mid wife.I'm not sure if you can eat too much fruit, some people say you crave what your body needs, hope things are good

My bmi was 15 wen last checked. Iv gained just over a stone and im 25weeks. Is that ok or shud i be worried?xx
No don't be worried at all. If your bmi is below 18.5 when you fall pregnant then you would be classed as under weight so you are meant to put more on then other women with a bmi in the normal weight range. Take care amy

Appetite can change during pregnancy and often fluctuates at different stages. The best indicator of if you are eating the right amount will be to monitor the weight you are gaining. At the moment this sounds about right assuming you were a normal pre-pregnancy weight.

Here is an approximate guide to weight gained during pregnancy depending on pre-pregnancy weight. For those women considered underweight (with a body mass index (BMI) lower than 20) a weight gain of 0.5kg or 1lb per week starting from week 12 onwards is an approximate target. For normal weight women (BMI between 20 to 25) their target is 0.4kg or ¾lb per week and for overweight women (BMI over 25) 0.3kg or ½ lb per week is recommended.

During pregnancy the body becomes more efficient at using the nutrients in food and as a result the average woman only needs an extra 200 calories per day during the last three moths of pregnancy. This is equivalent to 2 slices of wholemeal toast with margarine or butter, a jacket potato with an ounce of cheese or one slice of cheese on toast. If you find your appetite continues to be very big and you begin to gain too much weight try to choose healthy in-between meal snacks such as fruit, low fat yogurt, vegetable sticks with cottage cheese or low calorie cereal bars. Add bulk to your meals with extra salad or vegetables and by choosing wholegrain carbohydrates such as brown rice or pasta. Also include a drink of water at meal times.
