Many children will not eat cabbage, broccoli or sprouts because these veg have a bitter taste- and their little bodies have a mechanism which rejects "bitter" because food that is "off" has this taste. Small children need to be more sensitive because food poisoning can lead to a serious loss of body fluids- which in a small body can more easily lead to death.

Carrots, peas, corn are tomatoes are probably the favourite veg for children- but bland white foods like turnip or cauliflour may be easier to hide. Start by hiding a tiny amount in a favourite food. Half a teaspoonful will almost certainly go unnoticed! After a few days go for the whole teaspoonful. Then increase VERY gradually- no more than a teaspoon at a time and waiting days or weeks between increases. If food is refused go back a couple of steps before trying to increase again- and this time by tiny steps. If the taste of his potatoes just edges a teaspoon at a time towards potatoes and cauliflower he may like it before he notices the difference.

Use strong tastes he will accept (such as meat or tomato) to cover the veg he refuses. Spaghetti sauce, shepards pie, hamburger, baked beans, sausage patties, fish cakes etc.
Meanwhile if he will not accept veg will he accept fruit? Milk has all the trace elements he needs at this stage in his life. Veg eating is preparation for the future when his milk intake is much less- so do not panic!

My daughter used to eat everything and anything, but now hardly eats any veg at all. I have resorted to pureeing veg and mixing it in with favourite meals, such as Lasagne, I made some sausage rolls (dead easy) and actually put a relatively small amount of sausage meat in, but mixed it with finely chopped courgette and carrot and she loves them.

Certain things she was just not entertaning the idea of eating at all (broccoli and cauliflower), I just used to make sure some was on her plate, although it always ended up in the bin, but just recently she suddenly started trying a bit and today she requested cauliflower! Never thought that would happen.

So, basically I think it's a phase that they grow out of eventually (hopefully).

I know this might be an obvious question... But do you eat vegetables when you are feeding your baby?

My little girl is the same. Ate everything as a baby and now only eats meat, bread and pasta. Sometimes raw veg works eg. cucumber, cherry tomatoes. I also make pasta sauce with veg and blend the veg so it is unrecognisable and she doesn't know the difference. I am going to try this blending idea for veg in shepherds pie.

yes, don't panic. Both my kids were like this - they went through stages of eating every type of vegetable as babies then none when they got older. If you leave them alone gradually they will eat them again. Make sure they see you eating them. They will get there in the end
