I HAVE HEARD ALL SORTS OF HORROR STORIES ABOUT THE IMPLANT BUT YOUR NEVER SURE WHAT TO BELIVE SO ANY HELP OR ADVICE WOULD BE GLADLY RECIVED XXX

Hi.

I had Implanon for just over a year. My periods stopped and after the initial few weeks where I turned into an emotional nightmare (bad mood swings) everything settled down great.

I had mine removed at the end of January and used nothing at all and found out I was pregnant in April. My doctor told me that after having the implant out my body could take about 6 months to a year to settle down including getting into a normal cycle.

A few of my friends had the implant too and they didn't really get on with it and had it removed. 2 of them fell pregnant and their pregnancies and babies were perfectly fine. I just think you should listen to your body. You will figure out what is right for you, but also try to relax and no worry too much. Hope that's at all helpful xx

Hi Evey

Sorry to hear that you had a bad experience on Implanon - I had it for just over the recommended three years with no sign of a period. I had it removed in march - and found out I was pregnant in June. I had been using some form of pill/implant for 18 yrs - so I don't think it is a problem. The doctors say you should you a condom or something for a couple of months after removal to allow your body to settle back but I was told it wouldn't have an effect on the baby if you did conceive

best of luck!!
