the birthing unit sounds a good idea there isnt one in my area though, i had a hospital birth but that suited me i did feel at ease as im such a worrier and i just wanted to make sure if anything did go wrong id be looked after there and then if that makes sense, im glad i didnt have a home birth as i had a uterine inversion so i needed medical attention right away! but dont worry because thats super rare just typical to have happened to me! good luck whichever you choose but i agree with the 2 answer above wherever you feel most comfy, if theres no medical reason why you cant have a homebirth go for it, i sure would like to next time but obviously i wont be able to just incase! best of luck not long now :) take care :) xx

you need to be where you feel most comfortable, i have tryed a home birth hospital and midwifery led unit and home was the best, MLU coming a close second it was a very quite night and hospital should always be a last resort. I loved being in control being able to ask my partner to fetch things for me and he could with ease, the midwife was with me all the time, i felt less 'pain' all pluses of being at home.
hi
ive had hospital births but when ever my husband lets me another one i would go for a home birth! i would have with my second if i hadnt lived do far way from the hospital!
at the end of the day you should give birth where ever you will be most at ease if thats at home or in hospital.
i know that dosent really help! sorry
i have just found out some quite disturbing facts about the hospital i had planned to give birth in ie cleanliness and staffing problems etc. i went on a tour of the hospital this evening and although it didnt seem dirty, i didnt feel particualy comfortable there. Im going to visit our local birthing unit next week as have heard some better reports about it, however im now considering a home birth. this is my first baby, im now 35 weeks and have had no problems during my pregnancy so far, i will be talking things through with my midwife next week. but i would really like to hear of other peoples experiences of home births, especially those who have had home births and hospital or birthing unit births- which did you prefer? and also other first time mums who have had a home birth. thanks
