Was looking on the news of the world website and came across this story of a 40st woman who has recently given birth by c-section to tripletss. I cant help but think how unbelievably selfish this woman is in the way of being so overweight. Ive copied and pasted the link for the article for you all to read, just wondering what everybody elses views were on this? x x x http://www.newsoftheworld.co.uk/news/article14491.ece

hi, have just read the story on this women and in a way i do think it is selfish of her, but then u have got to think that she is a human being and it is natural for her to have a maternal instinct and i also think that just bacause she is overweight that she shouldnt be denied a chance of motherhood, i think any woman underweight or overweight can be a good mum its not the way u look its the way u act and treat ur children, and u have to give her credit as she has said that she will lose weight for the sake of her babies, i am underweight through no choice of my own (i eat loads but never seem to put on weight!!) and i have wanted a baby for soo long but its just not happening at the moment, so this works both ways i think that if u are ready to become a mum and are willing to do anything for ur babies then u shouldnt be denied that chance xx

I agree with last comment that your weight does not dictate how good a parent you are. There is a mum in my daughters school yard who looks all 'thin and trendy' yet she is awful to her children- she has 5 and lets them run around the yard like lunatics and frequently calls them retards! it is so awful to hear, my daughter just looks at me when she hears her and i have to nod to her not to say anything and talk to her about it later as it upsets her so much! yet my mum and god -mother are on the slightly larger side and are the best ever they have really shaped who I am as a person and will be eternally grateful to them. don't know why this woman won't let the father see the kids? does she have a good reason? my sisters fiance is a great dad and loves his little girl, yet his ex is being so awful and refuses to let her see him for absolutely no reason- she isn't thinking about her child at all! he is missing her so much and it's her birthday next week- he has had to see a solicitor to try and get access to her or he might not see her at Christmas either- he his heart broken and it is so unfair when I know some dads who see there kids all the time, don't pay a penny in maintenance and are horrible to them!

What got me was that shes refusing to let the father of her babies b a part of the kids everyday life because he'd suggested that she gets a gastric bypass - i think thats selfish. Were not just talking about a couple of stone overweight here ladies the womans 40st, no way can she be healthy. She is most likely at risk to heart problems and im suprised a doctor hasnt suggested a gastric bypass 2 her 2 give her a better lease of life!! If she becomes ill because of her weight its going to affect her kids. Yes i know that anyone of any size is going to get ill but this lady is guaranteed to face serious health problems. And i disagree that she isnt 'gobbling' up nhs resources, for anyone thats actually read the article it says exactly how many staff were needed that day and its shocking. Everyones entitled to their own opinions on this subject but I strong suggest that people should read the article before judging peoples comments x x x
I gave the figures for increased risk from being fat in my last input to this discussion. THEY ARE TINY. There is a health risk from gastric bypass- or so recent news suggests. So maybe she is less selfish than the Dad. One might ask if he didn't like fat women why did he father children with one?

She needs to be confident to raise three children- sounds like he is not great at boosting her self esteem. Nor is she likely to get much support from other women if the input here is anything to go by.

Fat or thin there are good and bad mothers- as anyone who has stood at the supermarket checkout or visited the local playground knows. I'm surely not the only person who has waited at the school gates with women the worse for drink or drugs or seen women shouting and smacking their toddlers and calling them names.

My wonderful supportive loving Grandma was more than a little overweight. My thin one the oposite in every respect. They say you can't judge the book by the cover- nor- as my Granmas clearly illustrate- can you judge a Mother (or Grandmother) by her waistline

This is such a silly comment .... why would she make a better mum than someone who is thin ?! it's irrelevant !
because if u read the comments 1/2 say that how will she lk after them bein fat in so many words so no i feel its not a pointless answer to a few picked out comments i feel that were shallow....coz some thin people dont look after there kids either.

not read the article yet but from what I'm hearing i'm wondering how she got pregnant, was it natural and if so how is she on her own now? if ivf why did a doctor inseminate her knowing the risks with her being so over weight- when other women are told to gain/lose weight as it is preventing them getting pregnant. there are considerable risks to have a baby at the best of times let alone the complications caused by being so overweight, what if something had gone wrong? with no daddy about who would have looked after those poor babies?. though sometimes things go wrong and it's no-ones fault at all- so a difficult one to call!

very shallow comments ok sh might be a food addict but she could also have a medical condition...she will prob make a great mum prob better than those who are thin.
