I think you are entitled to your whole holiday entitlement whilst on paid maternity leave but not whilst on unpaid maternity leave. I've just returned from maternity leave and I have earn't all of my holiday so have lots to use up now. Hope this helps.
thanks everyone for your help, i looked on govdirect and i am entitled to my holidays so i have printed it of to show my boss as she is under the impression that im not entitled to holidays for the full year or while on maternity...thanks x
I think you do as well, but I know for sure that you won't be allowed to carry over your holiday from this year to next year if you're going off on maternity leave so make sure you do use it! Look on the working families website, they have fantastic factsheets on maternity leave and rights and also a help line number if the information isn't there. I also think that you will start accruing leave as normal next year during your maternity leave, but I'm really confused about whether that's for the full paid 9 months or only for 6 months - if anyone knows, please tell me!
and it depends on your pay if your getting smp it's £117 or 90% depending on what your company pays for 39 weeks of the 52 weeks your allowed off so you have 3 months no money.
well i hadnt booked any holidays this year and have just left for 4 weeks holiday so i start my actual maternity leave on the 8th September in which i'm due on the 11/11. i got told i had to have them before april but sometimes they let you push them over if you're pregnant sometimes they dont.

CAN ANYONE TELL ME IF I GET MY FULL HOLIDAY ENTITLEMENT FOR THE YEAR? IM DUE 29/11/08. I THINK I HAVE SOMETHING STUPID LIKE 106 HRS, IV USED 41 HRS SO FAR SINCE APRIL, I INTENTED TO USE UP MY HOLIDAYS BEFORE I STARTED MY MATERNITY LEAVE BUT MY BOSS INFORMS ME TODAY THAT MY HOLIDAY ENTITELMENT WILL ONLY RUN FROM APRIL UNTILL THE DATE I LEAVE AND NOT APRIL-APRIL IS THIS RIGHT AS I KNOW PEOPLE WHO HAVE HAD FULL HOLIDAY FOR THE YEAR REGARDLESS OF WHEN THEY LEAVE FOR MATERNITY?
