Great advise thanks alot all. Its a mine field trying to figure out what are essentials and what aren't. I'm sure I shall pack and repack several times before I go in but at least now I've got some great ideas about what I should be putting in.

the amount of times that i packed and repacked the weeks leading up to labour was ridiculous and the final pack was 2 huge bags , one for me one for baby and i packed exactly what the books etc... told me to bring and do you know what i used in the end....

wipes, , 1 nightdress (do not bring your own undies better off sticking in the disposable hospital hammocks!!) and i went home in the clothes that i came to hospital in!
breast pads, underwear , san towels were supplied by the hospital but i would check that out with your hospital first just in case!
I brought so much stuff with me i'm sure the nurses would of laughed if they had seen it all ! make up , hair products, hair clips the lot! i only used 2 baby grows/vests handful of nappies , wipes, nappy cream and all in one coat for baby . That was literally it! I couldn't bring myself to shower in the hospital i just wanted to get home and soak in my own bath so i was lucky enough to go home quite quickly so my advice would be to use your own judgement , bring the very basics and if you need more stuff just get someone to bring it in for u ! x

i pack for me 2 pairs of pyjamas loose fitting an dopen front if you plan on breatsfeeding at least 5 pairs underwear or disposable pants 2 boxes sanitary towelsa 1 pack super and 1 pack maternity towels for first few hours breast pads a book to read change for phone something to wear to come home in and couple towels for after a bath toiletries toothpaste shower gel shampoo
for baby pack wipes packet nappies 3 vests 3 sleepsuits and outfit to come home in towel if you plan giving baby bath if you stay in longer id get vistors to bring extra things and take dirty things home saves on space and means you wont hav etoo much in bag

extra pj's (incase i stay in)
slippers
Dark towels
sanitary towels
breast pads
underwear
toiletries (soap, toothpaste hair brush etc)
outfit to come home in
Magazines, CD, Change for phone

FOR BABY
6 sleepsuits
6 vests
socks/mittens/hats
nappies
cotton wool
wipes
2 towels
cardigans
outfit to come home in
blanket

Hi, I'm 27 weeks and have started thinking about what I should pack in my hospital bag. I have made a list which seems to be getting longer and longer each time I search the internet for things to put in.
