I really like the name Ella and was wondering if anyone knows an Ella and if people shorten their name to Elle?

I think its annoying that names like Scarlet, Autumn, Summer used to be unknown and now everyone calls there kid that coz thats the only type of name i like ( i always have) and now I will have to call my daughter a common name- unless anyone can think of a uncommon name like that, otherwise i will have to go weird and have to name her like Forest or something over the top, any quirkey suggestions?
Thanks... Plus I think Ella is beautiful, and go ahead and name her it!!!
Yeah i know what you mean. I love Summer too. I'm a teacher and there isn't 1 Ella in my school but i bet you anything there'll be 2 in every class in the next 5 years! Definitely don't go with Forest!!! Need to get pregnant first!

My daughter is called Ella Kate and while we don't use her middle name or shorten her name I do call her Ella Bella...even occasionally calling her Ella Bella Banana..which does earn me some strange looks;-) I've never heard of anyone called Ella having it shortened to Elle.
Thanks, that's not strange my cat is called Suki and her nickname is Suki Mundo!!! People just call her Mundo now but my father in law keeps forgetting and calling her Bongo!!! x

my daughter is called Ella- sometimes i might say to her her; "Come on Elle's Bells!" but never refer to her asl Elle- my mum sometimes calls her Ella Bella as does my nan- its really odd because my daughter is five and we picked Ella because it was so unheard of at the time- no-one i knew, went to school with, within 3/4 of my districts had the same name or anything slightly like it and now everyone has gone really crazy on it!... i can see the name Ella being the next olivia/grace- because i think these where 2 of the top names at one point in the last couple of yrs! xx
