Hi guys, my baby girl will be six months next week and has been eating baby rice, veg, baby meals and fruit for about 4-5 weeks now. However we're having a real prolem getting her to drink out of anything at all. I've tried bottles and various differet cups but she just spits the milk back out again, gets upset and starts to choke because she's so worked up. I'm still breast feeding on her other feeds and will continue to do so when i'm home but i start back at work in about 3 weeks so will be away from her for 8 hours a day 4 days a week. We really need to crack this.

Thanks for your help guys, i have eventually found a bottle that my wee one will drink from! Yey! But i've found that there's no point in giving her breast milk in it because she's just not interested. She's been drinking water from it at meal times so i'm quite happy with that and can go back to work knowing she's not going to be dehydrated!!! Thanks a lot!

I'm breastfeeding too and needed to get my baby drinking milk from a cup before going back to work. I started with just water and tried lots of different cups. We ended up with the Tommee Tippee free flow cup and after a couple of weeks he would drink water happily but not milk - particularly not expressed breast milk. I tried every formula milk available before finding one he would drink but he won't take large volumes yet. Have ou tried the Tommee Tippee close to nature bottles?

Hi. My daughter took a long time to take to a cup and I tried just about every one on the market! She was bottle fed by the time we got to weaning so I just gave her her normal milk feeds in her bottle and made the cup of water completely optional so that it didn't matter if she didn't want it. We eventually settled on an Avent cup with a 6 month plus spout and she is still with that one now at 19 months, happily drinking plain water from it. She has always refused to have her milk out of anything other than a bottle though. Perhaps try your little one with a bottle for weaning and then move from that to a cup? Your breast feeding is obviously well established now so introducing a bottle shouldn't be a problem in that sense. At least if you can get her to drink either water or milk from any bottle or cup then you know you will be ok to leave her while you're at work and you can progress to a cup when she is ready. Hope this helps. xxx
