The advice is that you should avoid having local anaesthetic during the first trimester. This means it is best to avoid any elective dental treatment. After that point, you should tell your dentist so you can discuss your anaesthesia options and come up with the safest choice for you. Pregnant women can receive some local anaesthetics if dental treatment is necessary. Breastfeeding women can receive normal doses of local anaesthetics without affecting their infants.
