I am 32 weeks and I went to my dentist recently and I have a big cavity that needs to be filled. She said she would rather wait until after my baby is born, but if it started to hurt she would do it anyway. I guess they're a little wary of doing anything that isn't urgent??
hi there iam a dental nurse, and theres no evidence to show that local anaesthetic can harm your baby. Our dentist usually will wait until the patient is past the three month stage, but after that everything is ok. But saying that if you would prefer to leave it till after the birth of your baby, explain this to your dentist and they should be supportive until you have had your baby to return for your treatment.Dont leave it too late though as things could get worse!!!! Hope this puts you at ease, Leah ( mum to Niamh)
Well ive had a tooth out and a filling and it numbed so no its fine aslong as u told him u were preg then he would of worked around that!

i recently went to the dentist for a filling, and he gave me a local anaesthetic to numb the pain. I then heard that this is dangerous for my unborn baby (Im 27 weeks) and am now really worried that he didnt know what he was doing. Does anyone know if anaesthetics are safe when pregnant? Please help xx
