hiya i was induced with my little boy when i was 38 weeks due to high blood pressure, i was really scared but it wasnt that bad. they took me and induced me at 9am on the morning, by lunch time i was having some pains which they said was due to the induction so i just kept getting a warm bath getting my\ bf to pour water on my tummy.. this eased it a bit by 2pm i could see my tummy contracting but midwife on ward just said it was induction pains and gave me 2 paracetamols which i was sick and as i couldnt take anything else i had another bath. then at 4pm i was in alot of pain and begged to be examined me which they was reluctant to do as if i wasnt dilating i would have to be wait a few hours to be induced again. but once they took me down to labour ward they found i was 6cm dilated`i then had gas and air a shot of pethadine and with in no time i was 10cm dilated and the midwife burst my waters and at 5.45 my little man was born i had no stitches or any interventions and all was well. they did say that i was only in labour 1 hr 45 mins which is pretty quick and they was suprised it happened so fast.
the best thing for you is to stay calm and just go with the flow and follow what your body is saying. Good look hun and take care xx
Well I'm back guys....finally and with new baby!
I have to say that was an awful experience, even though it was worth it.
I went in on saturday oly to be sent home as they were understaffed. Went back in on sunday and was given a high dosage induction gel, with no luck so was given a second lower dosage leaving me dilated only 3cm at the end of the day. Monday i had another lower dosage gel, which left me still at 3cm by the end of the day. Tuesday I was given ANOTHER high dosage, getting me to 6cm. They sent me to the ward on Tuesday night with fasting orders in case it had to be a csection on Wednesday. On wednesday morning they performed a clean and sweep and later managed to break my waters and bring on contractions...after 24hrs and 38mins I was still only 8cm so I was sent for an emergency csection. Finally got out of hospital on Saturday, it's been a long week but little Jacob James is worth it, and at 2 weeks early he was a nice juicy 8lb2!
Congratulations! He is a wee cutey pie! Remember you are chief cuddler and get everyone else to run about after you while you recover xxx

Thanks guys, you've all helped. I know all experiences are different for everyone but it's nice to have some sort of idea you know? I'll make sure I come back here to post when he's arrived (I'll need to update my profile anyway, and I'm sure there will be baby pics!).
what r u calling him?
After a nice and long three hours in hospital today they've told me an induction is the best option for me and my baby. I'm suffering from Obstetric Cholostasis (spelling?) so they feel this is he best option. I'm 37+4 weeks so I thought I had more time to get used to the idea of labour, but now I'm scared to death with not long to wait! Any advice on calming my nerves? Or even an explanation as to what they'll do from a mother's point of view (they've explained what will actually happen, but it's all a bit clinical for me), I've heard it's not a pleasant experience...help
aww dont worry u will b fine. they mite give u a membrane sweep(wont lie 2 u its painful)2 try n bring on contractions. if that doesnt work the mite break ur waters which will start u off. then it goes from there,no its not pleasant but its worth all the pain in the end,so dont worry xx
