Hey! My little boy was just over 2 when i started to potty train however my neighbours little girl would have been around the age of ur little one when she started, she did really well for a while but then lost interest in it and is back in nappies now. However i think while she is willing to do it u should encourage it, and if she goes back to nappies u still have plenty of time to start again!
I don't think she could hurt herself by straining. At the minute it is probably still a bit of a novelty to her and as she gets more used to it she probably won't take as long on the potty.
I think u will know what to do when u can see if she actually knows she needs to go to the potty and goes to do it or if she just happens to go because she is sitting on it (if u know what i mean!) Good luck xx
My daughter is only 19.5months and today decided she wanted to use the potty for the first time and was so proud of herself she ended up going 4times before bed. I think she is a bit too young and i am due another baby in 7weeks and know this could put any potty training pn hold as she may not want to use it or may start to wet herself if dry by then.
i was just wondering is she too young? should i just let her decide if she wants to carry on or should i try to get her out of nappies? also she spent 30mins on it at 1 point because every drip of pee she did she jumped up to look at it and strained so much she did a little tiny poo shoud i be worried about her straining too much or just let her be? and how do i get her to do her business then come away in less than 30mins without discouraging her?
