Hi, im 23 weeks pregnant and have developed the usual back pain low down. I have also developed pain halfway up my back which seems 2 alternate on sides and radiates from the outside in. Can someone tell me wot this could be and wot i can do 2 relieve it as it is so painful!!! Thanks xx
Hi, I had really bad back pain while I was pregnant with my 2nd baby, at first the doctors at the emergency dept told me I had a water infection and sent me home, but the pain got worse so my husband took me to our GP, who took one look at me and sent me to the delivery suite for a midwife to check me over, anyway after loads of tests they found out i had gall stones, which was really painful and meant I couldn't have any fat in my diet. It might be worth mentioning this to your doctor as it took them ages to think of testing me for it but pregnant women are more likely to get them. x
oh right ok.. : ) i didn't mean to sound offensive in my post earlier- it may be that baby is lay on a nerve in your back and as this pain is alternating its possible it is where baby has moved- like i mentioned before; take a long hot soak, and if possible get your other half to give your back a rub with some baby oil or something- it may just be that you have even pulled your back slightly- if the pain worsens speak with your GP- and if the "deep heat" is safe in pregnancy; try it- its great stuff and will work a miracle on your back. x
i dont mean to sound rude here, but your username says AEnurse... i take it you work in A&E???????????? Most ppl tht work in this field would have some idea on how to relieve such pain. Obviously you work very hard, I'v worked in simular fields myself for quite some time- and know (especially when pregnant) if your not watching your back when you help ppl to walk, move things, lift things etc etc it can cause you incredible pain. Take some paracetamol, try a hot bath, a massage from your partner/mum if possible or even try and hot water bottle and some deep heat available from most chemists. Rest when you can and maybe cut down your hours, if the pain still insists then perhaps you should have a word with your GP or midwife.
I have been taking paracetamol, and im currently not working so its not related 2 that otherwise i would have known!!! lol.
