my baby has just finished his teethin after 4 teeth in 4 days, just before he got them thru about 3 weeks ago he got really bad nappy rash which was not clearin up and was really sore and started crackin. i took him to GP and they gave me sum metanium and canesten to put on and to use until cleared up but for no longer than 7 days. it cleared up fine within 3 days but has recently started to come back. it doesnt seem to bother him but can anyone suggest some good rash creams which may prevent this. thanks x

i would say use bepanthan u can get it at chemist or supermarket and its gentle enough that it can be used all the time and it creats a breathable barrier so the rash should clear up and stay away while using it. i used it on my daughter when she was teething and it worked a treat. i also used it on my tattoo! sounds odd but the tattooist said its so gentle and creats a breathable waterproof barrier and i think if its gentle enough to put on a new tattoo and heal that then its fine for babys bum! also i would stay clean of sudocrem as it seems to hurt my daughter when it goes on .

I asked my gp the exact same question and he said because the teething causes saliva and excess acid is made in the stomach and they pass this more when teething its that which causes the nappy rash to be even more sever than normal. Was all just words to me but when he settled down from teething it stopped and has now started again so your not alone x

you can buy bepanthem from the chemists or supermarkets and this is what the doctor prescribed for my little one. You can use it for as long as needed. I only used the bepanthem when he was teething when it was really bad but sudacrem all the time to prevent any rash.
i use sudocrem for all nappy changes and i put quite a bit on so was confused as to why he got it again. i have tried bepanthen before but no when it was as bad so will have to go and get some before next change. thanks xx
