Electrics are better a lil pricey but worth it because it takes less time i use both manual avent with via cups so i can freeze it etc and i use medela mini electric pump. i find the medela pump good i can adjust the suction when i feel a bit uncomfortable which is good beacuse it is small and compact and you can control the suction but i always have it in the highest because it allows more milk to be expressed but with avent isis the sheild has this cushionlike shield that massage the area where the glands are to help milk to ease out so when my breasts arent that full i use the hand 1 an when they are full the electric for i dont know that the avent electrical 1 is like but i use the medela 1 alot. be wary of which bottles you get as my lil 1 wouldnt go back to breast with the avent bottles( i had to feed her formula at 2weeks beacuse i got really sore) and i had to buy tommee tippee she is now 7weeks and after 3weeks of trying to breast feed her again she has only just started feeding at night tym now. but dont be put of by this as i stil use the avent pump an via cup storage kit and the avent IQ bottle warmer to heat up milk very clever piece of equiptment!
wait until after 6wks to express i recommends the tommee tippee closer to nature bottles jsut because of the teat shape but it really depends on your baby and wat it wil like
I am starting to buy all of the bits and pieces we'll need after our baby is born and I've been stumped by Breat Pumps.
Which are best electrical or hand pumped?
Can anyone recommend a really good one that is easy to use and this will be my first go!?
Cheers
I used the manual tommee tippee one, difficult!!!! I used an electric one in the hospital and it was brilliant, did a crossword while the machine did the work!!!!. I know the electric ones are more expensive but they would be worth it
I found the tommee tippee bottles and feeding cup very difficult as well. Avent bottles are great and cheaper
good luck
Go for the electrical as it is so much easier and takes half the time to do. We tried the manual/hand pump and it took forever. Try looking on boots.com or tesco.com for them the make is medela swing and its about 80-90 pounds but it was well worth it.
