tell your gp you did a pregnancy test and it's positive- the test they do is exactly the same anyway! they'll put you in touch with the midwife and you'll have a 'booking in' appointment, it takes a while coz they have to get loads of info about you, yours and partners health, family history etc.
give them an idea of when your last period was- if you don't know exactly (i never did!) just a rough idea- ie beginning of previous month or whatever!) will do. you will get appointment for a scan around the time they predict you will be at that 12 week stage. they call it a 'dating scan' anyway as they measure the baby and give you an EDD or Estimated Date of Delivery to predict when your baby is due.
they do an extra scan at 20 weeks called an Anomaly scan,(or the 'Big scan') where they make sure date is still correct and do loads of measurements and checks to make sure everything is fine- it usually is so don't worry! if you're not sure about Anything- ask your midwife or gp- it's what they're there for and believe me they've heard it all before so don't be embarrassed about sounding daft or neurotic! Congratulations and take care of you xx
i was the samewhen i found out, i wasnt sure how far i was so ive been to my doctors and they do another test with you to make sure you are prgnant and they have given me a number for the hospital and im arranging an early scan.
Well first of all if u havent done so already phone ur docs n make an appointment, they will do a urine sample and blood tests to confirm, then ull get a number for a midwife, but unless u really dont know when ur last period was they wont scan u till ur 12 weeks usually.well thats what they do in my area anyway :)
congrats :) x
