Hi, I'm thoroughly mixed up by conflicting information. I am just at the end of my first month of trying to conceive and am trying to work out for future reference when I am due to ovulate. My last period started on the 5th September, I have a 28 day cycle. This makes my next period due on the 2nd October. I read that to predict ovulation date take 14 days away from date of next period so that would work out at ovulating around 19th Sept - all sounds good so far! Then I bought some clearblue ovulation sticks and they say to work out ovulation day by adding 10 days on to first date of previous period (for a 28 day cycle). So now I'm confused as this works out at a completely different date - 15th Sept. Also the ovulation calculator on here tells me my best dates are between 9th - 14th. Which way of working it out is the correct one? I know it is only a 4 / 5 day gap but I'd like to be clear on the way of working it out if possible. I would be really grateful if any of you ladies could help me out on this one!! Thanks, Carla

hiya, i use 'fertilityplan' on ebay for my sticks, and as megan says, start testing on about day 10 of your cycle, test until you get a positive result, and keep going until it turns negative again.
Also as laurio says, sperm can survive for a few days, however an egg only lasts 12 hours. so as soon as you get the faintest line on your stick, start trying actively.
good luck ttc x

Who is the seller on ebay that sells the ovulation sticks?
Thank you x

also do not forget that sperm can survive for quite a while so maybe the clearblue allows for time either side of ovulation aiming to try and catch the egg at some point.
