Hi I am thinking of swirching my bf 8 week old over to bottle feeding soon. I was just wondering what people do with preparing bottles? Do you make up a batch and keep in fridge and then warm up when required? I know the packs suggest you make up bottles when required, but, I can't imagine the lo waiting while I boil a kettle let it cool for 30 mins etc when he is hungry ....

I make up all the bottles in advance with water only. When she wants the bottle, I just add the formula, give it a good shake and then heat it up (you can put in jug of boiling water, use a bottle heater, etc) x

hi im pretty sure on the tins of sma which i used after bf my daughter said you can make them up in advance but they have to be quick cooled and can ony be kept for 24hrs so every night b4 i went to bed i made up the bottles for the next day and put them into the sink with cold water for 10mins or so til they were cool enough for the fridge then just heat when required. my daughter did not like to wait for her bottle so i had to make them up in advance n like my mum z she did it with all three of us and we wer fine. hope ths helps

Hey!
One of the things my health visitor told me was to put cooled boiled water in a clean new flask and it keeps for 6 or 8 hours! That meant we can stick with the make up as you go along! Hope this helps xx

yes its crazy that the formula manufactures think baby doesnt mind waiting over an hour for a feed!!!!! we've been making up batches in the evening, storing them in the fridge and using them over the next 24 hours. 10 minutes or so to warm up in the bottle warmer, less if you use a microwave. it works fine.
another thing that you could do is if your going out, putting hot water in bottle and taking the formula seperately so you make that up when needed. never do that myself, I just take the already made up mixture, its ok in a cool bag for up to 4 hours. hope this helps....
