Everyone keeps telling me I should be thinking about moving my son to a bed. He is 22 months old and is in a cotbed at the moment with the cot sides still on. He sleeps 12-13 hrs a night and I don't see the rush.
Am I holding him back?
hi, my daughter is 24 months old and we have just made the move from cot to bed. it was through neccessity really though as we had cot not a cotbed so was too small for her, think if we had a cotbed i would have waited bit longer. saying that she is slepping better now in big girl bed than ever before, was panicking that she would be straight up all night playing with her toys etc but she has not once (touch wood!) even attempted to get out once she has been put down for the night. she even calls in a morning for us to go get her up instead of just getting out of bed herself!!!! so i really wouldn't worry about moving him, as long as he has enough room and is comfortable i would leave him as he is, but when the time comes remember its not as scary as you think!!
Hi I would not rush him i,f you are happy and he his happy there is no problem....all my 3 have been nightmares sleepers and did not settle in a cot but as soon as they went in to beds they were great! I would stick with what works for you....he will spend the next 70 years in a bed....and at least he cant get out of his cot bed?I now have 3 nighttime wanderers!!!!!! Marianne
Hi there im mum of three, youngest being 22mths,still in her cotbed and very happy with it.My older two were out of cots by this stage but only because they were ready for itHollys still very resless during the night and i dont see the point of taking the sides off just to have to replace the with a bed guard!1 If your sons a settled sleeper then the time may be right but dont let anyone force you-youl know yourself when hes ready. Hollys toilet trained by day but in nappies at night, however were taking the night nappies away after xmas so the cot sides will probably come off then for easy toilet access. by the way-your definately not holding him back, how many people remember when they went from cot to bed?! Only you will remember it so dont stress over it.
I was going to ask the same question, my son in 22 months and was thinking of putting into a bed, but he moves around so much in his bed at the momnet i am a bit scared, I also keep putting him into the bed a read a story but when i turn the light out he screams, but if i put him to bed an turn the light out he does not do it, as i think he is finding comfort. So sorry i was not much help.
