Having a history of a placental abruption will be taken in to account with any furture pregnancies.Your own situation will be reviewed by a consultant and your care will be planned from there. Having had a placental abruption with one pregnancy does not necessarily mean it will happen again, but your care will be planned with that in mind. Your care might include a few extra scans and antenatal checks up at the hospital and delivery may be advised a little earlier than your due date.

Hi, consider yourself very lucky that you and baby are ok. Placental abruption is a very bad thing to happen during pregnancy. My daughter was stilborn at 35 weeks, due to a severe one. I lost a lot of blood and I am lucky to still be here. I have since gone on to have another healthy boy and I am currently 10 weeks pregnant. They will monitor you more closely and possibly give you more scans. Tell them that this is what you want to put your mind at ease. There is nothing stopping you having another healthy baby, just take it easy and i'm sure everything will be ok.
