At your routine antenatal check your midwife will have taken various observations like blood pressure, fetal movements, urine analysis and she will have measured your womb/uterus. The measurement of the womb/uterus has been standardized in the last 10-15years by measuring it with a tape measure, 1cm for each week of pregnancy so at 35 weeks I would expect you to be about 35cm. If a measurement is found to be less or more than that for the gestation then it requires further investigation usually in the form of a scan. Scans are a more accurate way of assessing fetal growth and show us if further monitoring of the pregnancy is needed. I recently had a lady who was referred to the antenatal assessment centre measuring 33cm at 38 weeks. The scan was able to reassure us that the baby was growing normally and there was no need for further intervention. The fact that your baby's movements are fine is a very good indication of how well your baby is doing and this is reassuring. If they find that your baby is growing slowly when you go for the scan they will probably invite you back for another scan in 2 weeks time to compare the results and then make a plan of care that you need. Growth scans are best done at 2 week intervals, any earlier and their results are unreliable.

dont worry i had the same. they wanted to induce me because they thought my baby was 5lb. then she born 6lb 8half. they dnt know what their talking about half the time dont worry

HI THIS IS MY FIRST PREGNANCY IM 35WEEKS GONE AND I HAVE TO GO FOR A GROWTH SCAN BECAUSE MY BABY HAS ONLY GROWN 1CM IN A FORTNIGHT. I CAN STILL FEEL IT MOVING SO NOT TOTALLY PANICING YET! DOES ANYONE KNOW ANYTHING ABOUT THIS!!!!
