karvol capsules are great for when they've got blocked noses. you can get them at boots or supermarket. try to get little 'un to drink plent but it can be difficult and be prepared for bit of puking! it's the mucus. lily had rotten cold over christmas last year and was sick as a dog after nearly every feed. calcold is great too. someone said before bout propping up one end of the cot- just roll up a blanket and put under the mattress. if you get really worried bout anything go see doctor or call nhs direct. hope this helps and babba feels better soon!

My 10 week old has a cold too poor boy.

If babies nose sounds mucus-y, you can prop up one end of his cot so he is not sleeping flat which will help. You can also get saline drops to help clear his nose. Some vapour rub products are suitable for babies over 3 months. NHS direct has some helpful advice. If you think the cold has gone to his chest i.e. if he is wheezy or breathing appears to e an effort, take him to the Doctor asap.

lots of fluids- ie cooled boiled water from a bottle. they may slow down on the breast/bottles, as they can't taste it or take longer to feed as breathing through nose may be difficult. stick to layers so you can add or remove as your babies temperature changes, get some fresh air- it's not true that being out in the cold gives them a cold- if anything they shouldn't be kept indoors breathing the same air all day asthey are just breathing in the same germs, if you want to stay indoors keep the room ventilated but not drafty! paracetamol for a high temperature if needs be- read the label carefully they can only have so much in 24 hours! stick to their normal routine, this is a comfort in itself and just ride it out! oh keep an eye on the nappies anything unusual ie indicating upset tummy, or not having enough wet nappies (first thing a dr will ask is if they are still having plenty of wet napp1es!) as too few can indicate dehydration (hence the water). Good luck and hope this helps! if you are worried then see doc- don't worry about mithering them- it's their job and they are paid handsomely for it!! hope little one gets better soon x
