i didnt actually get that far with my 2older children but did look into it. theres an associtation called the humanist society. they will do most services that a church would do but non religous. from what i can make out they would come to your house for the service if you wish. you choose who you want as godparents and their friendship to you is blessed too.
Hi all! Does anyone know of/ or had a baby naming ceremony? We don't want to get our baby christened but I liked having god-parents as a child. Just wondering if there's any similar but non-religious? xx
im muslim we shave babys hair on 7th day after birth give baby name and have gifts etc all family get together naming ceromny but not religious in sense of christening
hi i had a blessing my parents didnt wnt to hav anything religious or have to go to sit in a church church, it is done in the church and is very similar to a christening but with the no religion string thing attched.
My friend had a naming day at her parents house just with family and had a tea party and little Alex got a few goodies. It depends how you want it really xx
gd luck
Ooo i was thinking about this but never put much thought into it, I just thought id have a party to celebrate her being born but i like the idea of having a proper formal gathering and something at a registry office. Im not religious either so thought it would be a bit fake to have my daughter christened, but still didnt want her to miss out on a fancy do! I think a naming ceremony is a brilliant idea x x x
Thanks girls! I'm loving the fact Clintons have got on board too!! I'll look into a bit more and see what hubby thinks. x
The naming ceremony i went to was in a registrary office. You dont have "god-parents" you have "guiding parents". there is nothing religious about the ceremony at all. obviously prezzies and a party after. you can have a small or big do, depending on where you have it.
I'm having a naming ceremony for my children as my partner doesnt want a christening but i do. so we've agreed on a naming ceremony.
it's that big now that clinton cards do invitations and cards with naming ceremony on them!
xx
