Hi there – I think your husband is probably right. When you stop taking your pills, your body will adjust, as will water retention. Women experience differing amounts, if any, of weight gain or weight loss after stopping the pill. Are you still in touch with a counsellor about body weight issues? If not contact the eating disorders association (address below) and talk to them about your concerns

Thanks so much for the post - My feelings about it have settled down a bit now and my weight is pretty much constant again, although its higher than it was when I was on the pill, its not still going up so Im mostly ok to have settled here.
Its good to have a reassuring post from someone.
And no Im not still in touch with a counsellor but I can have one one off session if i need it.
This isnt really a pregnancy related question but more a general birth control question. I thought someone here might be able to help though.
I've had an eating disorder but have maintained a good weight for a while and am pretty much recovered. I've recently improved my eating to where I think it is totally normal and have very suddenly put on weight although i dont think I look any different.
My husband suggested that it was because my body weight will fluctuate more throughout the month as I am not on the pill anymore and I wondered if that was true? Does anyone know? I remember my weight used to fluctuate but I dont know if it was monthly or not as I didnt really notice it then. Im trying to work out if this is something I should expect each month or if I need to carefully adjust my diet again.
