Can someone please explain what you get when you buy an ovulation kit. Saw one in supermarket other day and was £20 for 7 sticks. Does that mean you only get 7 days worth of tests for £20? Are they all the same?

Hiya babes, some of the info is incorrect. Women vary what day they ovulate - we are lead to believe it is on day 14, just like we have 28 day cycles. Some people ovulate as early as day 10 and others dont ovulate until later in the 20's like me. I use a clearblue monitor and you test your wee EVERY day and it tells you your status - "Low", "High" and "Peak". High is upto 5 days (although i normally get about 7) leading upto your peak status which is when you ovulate. It just helps pinpoint the exact times its best to erm...how do we say....get down and dirty :D I have a 34 day cycle and I normally ovulate between days 19 and 23, so its handy to know what it is every month!

Ovulation tests you only use on day 14 and keep testing until it says your ovulating. So yes TECHNICALLY it is 7 days worth of sticks but prob about 2 or 3 months worth :) xxx
thanks very much x

hi jane, the persona is used mainly as a contraceptive device - but use it in reverse and it works well as an ovulation monitor. they cost about £60 from boots and a months worth of sticks are about £10-15. clearblue also do a monitor which from what i can gather... wee on a stick once every 3 days, insert it into the monitor and it stores the info. it will analyse the sample and let you know at what point of the cyle you are in. these cost about £100, and about £20 for a months worth of sticks.

i personally feel that you are paying for the name in the case of the clearblue monitor.

i bought a load of ovulation sticks from a seller called 'fertilityplan' on ebay. i bought about 20 for £3.50. i've bought quite a bit from this seller now, and they have never let me down. you wee on it - not the first wee of the day though - and wait for the two lines. if it's really faint, keep testing until the lines are as strong as each other, then grab your man and have fun!! lol!!

women ovulate 14 days before their period - not after as we are led to believe. i have a 37 day cycle so i ovulate on day 23ish. so i test from day 19 until i get my two lines. i generally have 3 days of faint lines, then one day where it's really strong, meaning i am about to ovulate. if you know how long your cycle is, then you can work out when to sart testing.

the first month i used them i fell pregnant, but unfortunately lost it at 6.5 weeks :( so am using them again now.

any more questions...please just ask, or add me as a friend. best of luck, and sorry for the essay x

Ok thanks so is a monitor the same as Persona? My friend has one and says i can borrow it. Have read up about them on the internet and they're obviously used as a form of contraception but does it matter when they obviously tell you when you're ovulating anyway? Is yours Persona or are there specific ones for ovulating too?
Mine's a clear blue, I bought it from e-bay, still in a box for £50-have to keep an eye on how much they are going for as it varies. To be honest I don't know much about them and haven't taken it out of the box yet as you can only use it on 1st day of your period x

I' ve been using the clearblue digital-they give a smiley face when you are ovulating and a circle when ur not. You get the 7 sticks and the unit that reads the test, similar to pregnancy test. The downside is you can't just buy new sticks, and it works out expensive-have given up and bought a monitor myself. xc

hiya when i was tryin to get pregnant we brought the tesco ovulation sticks. at least i think they were tesco. ive also noticed them cheap before at Wilkinsons. i got pregnant the first month of using them. I think it was cus i understood i needed to really relax over the days i was ovulating whereas before it was a guessing game wondering when i was most fertile. But yes you only get 7 days worth. The digital tests can be expensive and i dont think there reusable. the cheapo tests worked for me as at 8 weeks pregnant i have my first proper midwife appointment tomorrow.good luckhuni xx
