hi again, just thought i'd mention that the reason it was pulled from the shelves for under 2's is because of parents acidentally overdosing their child. some parents have made a simple mistake of not realising what it contains, and giving them a cough medicine, calpol or similar alongside the medised, which leads to an overdose. these medicines are readily available in supermarkets, garages and corner shops as well as pharmacies, and not everyone is trained to ask what medication the child is already on, and to know what may interact with it.
there are alot of unhappy mums out there that feel other mums have ruined it for them, but unfortunately the license for this product has been withdrawn for use in under 2's so if you were to give it to a child and the slightest thing went wrong, the manufacturers wouldn't be to blame as it shouldn't have been given.
it isn't dangerous to use, but please just tell your pharmacy what else you are using for a cough, cold or teething so they can advise you on what's best, and to make sure your not using 2 products that contain ingredients from the same drug groups - not just necessarily the same drug.
sorry to waffle, but i work in pharmacy, and serve mums daily who are annoyed with the Health Agencys decision to remove this product. i just want to do my job properly and help you all to look after your little ones - well the medical side anyhow x x
it gets your baby to sleep but a very deep sleep a lot of mums use it for this reason but i think thats taking tooo much risk just for a bit of shut eye ur baby can become used to theat helping them to sleep and not learn hw to do it themselves
nueroffen sory spellings lol thats brill also the powders u can buy r good hope this helps x
i dont agree if you can get something to help your child through pain then why not. i would never give her anything just for sleep.
iv recently used it on my daughter who is 15months and i think its brilliant. i havnt given her alot only half of what it said should be used. dont think they could sell something that is harmful

Hi. I've been using Calgel and its worked really well. My daughter is 6 months and has two bottom teeth. I found that when she was really in pain she would like to rub her gums on my thumb knuckle. It hurts now though with her teeth. My friend used to swear by Mediced but she used it before new guidlines. x
Hiya everyone
My baby is in a lot of pain from teething and has been crying constantly for the last 3 days some of my friends swear by Mediced but apparently it is now only available on prescription for under 2's does anyone else still use it?x

I find anbesol really good as it's a liquid and easier to apply than bonjela. I have still used Mediced as a last resort if nothing else works as it was okay when I started using it. It's really up to you. A lot of the problem with it was people abusing it to get a good nights sleep as it can make them drowsy. Obviously it's a worry when new information comes out about a product.
Thanks for the advice everyone I'll try the other stuff rather than mediced - thanks again!x
