My baby boy was born in June 08 weighing 9lb5. I am size 10 5"3 and my husband is not a big build and not too tall. I was SOOOOOO fed up of people commenting on what a big/huge/tall baby he was. I now look back at the clothes he wore as a newborn and don't ever feel that he was so small - in a way all of the comments those people made took away my memories of a little baby. Please everyone - ignore what people say - they are perfect to us and at least we don't have to worry about a malnourished baby ;-)

Hi, My baby girl was 9lb 2oz. I had no idea that she was so big as I was told that I didn't even look full term by friends & neighbours. She was 11 days late but once she decided to arrive the delivery was very quick. I started getting my first contractions (which went from none to 3-4 minutes apart) at midnight & gave birth by 5am.

Rebecca is now 17 weeks old & weighs almost 17lb. She is not fat but is very long & muscular (due to being such a fidget). She is at the top of average on all the charts in her red book.

Hi
Reading all these stories has made me feel so much better.
My baby boy was born on the 8/11/08, and wieghed 9ib 12 ounces, and a head full of hair.
He is now 8 weeks old, and is completly of the centile line, as he is currently 15ib 15 ounces! The health vistor has asked that he is wieghed everyweek, due to the size of him.
I have today tried him on his first portion of baby rice, as milk is not enough (I feed him 8 ounces every 1-2 hours).
I do not believe at all in this obese theory, I am only 5ft 2 and wear size 12 clothes.
I too had to have an emergency c section, after 24 hours in labour, and no midwife ever told me his was a big baby.

Both of mine were sections too. Jess dur to being breach and Jacob due to his size. I was really lucky with my medical staff as they wanted what was best for me and pretty much pursuaded me to have a section after measuring 54 weeks pregnant at 37 weeks!! If you want a section kick up a fuss and don't back down. You have a right to choose especially if you've had an emergency one before.

Both of mine were whoppers. My first was 9lb10oz and my second 11lb3oz both were early too! My oldest is now about average maybe a little tall for her age but Jacob who is now 2 is till really tall. He's on the 99th centile for height. Not fat just very tall. He's less than a head height shorter than Jess who is 4. He was called the bruiser in hospital and the neonatal ward (he had some breathing probs at birth) had 4 babies in at the time and he weighed more than all of them put together!!
