One year old waking for milk

I'm after some advice. My one year old daughter wakes for milk once a night. Doesn't always want milk sometimes just a cuddle. Just noticed her back teeth are coming through. Should I offer her water in the hope she won't bother waking up or just give her what she wants? She's obviously in pain and needs comfort which isn't a problem but I would ideally like her to go through the night without milk. What do you think??

Thanks for your advice. She's never been a great sleeper so I'm used to being up in the night!!! Sometimes feel I'm making excuses because she doesn't sleep all night but who wouldn't want a cuddle if the were in pain. She loves breadsticks so I'll give her those during the day as I've just noticed she taken the skin of her knuckle from chewing her fingers. (Ouch) Thanks again x

If she does need a drink just offer water- like you say, you don't want her getting up in the night expecting milk. It seems it is her teeth that is causing her to wake so maybe a cuddle will suffice, if you think she is in alot of pain a little calpol about an hour before bed might be enough to get her through the night so she doesn't keep having a broken nights sleep. Teething can be really rough on them- the same as toothache for adults- with the added problem of them not understanding what is wrong- poor little soul, plenty of cuddles i think and lots of cold things to cool the gums or things to bite on like crackers or cucumber sticks!

if i were u i would just give her a cuddle and settle her before putting her back to bed unless you think she really needs a drink. I have the same with my little man then hes cutting a tooth.
