Using the same name as a pet??

Hi, What are your thoughts on using a name that someone has named their pet? OH and I are struggling with boys names and a friend mentioned the name Archie. We both really like it but my uncles dog is called Archie! Not sure if we should use it or not?? xx

I am close to my uncle so I think I will have to chose something else! Gone are the days of animals being called Fluffy! We liked Alfie too but thats my mums cats name!! xx

Perhaps it's time for us to use Fluffy, Fi Fi Rover and Spot etc as baby names lol!!

I loved Alfie & Archie but unfortunately that's what my chihuahua's are called lol .. If you & your uncle are close then I would use something else only because it will just remind you of the dog xx

My 2 springers are Archie and Alfie too! Love those names!!

I would keep looking but if when he's born the only name that right for him is Archie them call him archie.

Thanks everyone. We are still not 100% on the name yet but just dont want people thinking/saying I named my baby after the dog. Like challiga said, as horrible as it is, the dog wont be here forever, he is 11 this year. This is the first boys name OH and I have both liked!! x

I love the name Archie. My little girl is called Lilie, and our nan has a dog called Lilie aswel, my sister nearly made me not call my daughter Lilie because she said it was a dogs name.... but then i thought stuff it, thats what i wanted to call my baby, and shes a bit more significant then a dog. its not like people wont know if your talking to your baby or your uncles dog! call your baby whatever feels right to you xx

I have kids with names of pets...not my pets but iv herd alot of dogs called "Molly" lol and cats called "Phoebe" so what? lol its silly cus dont we name our pets after people? its just a name. When i had my 2nd baby folk would say "why have u named him after a stoned rabbit....his name is Dylan....i never new the name of the rabbit on the magic round about! hahahaha so what and my outher girl is called Bailey but not after the drink lol x I love the name Archie is mega cute x

Archie is a lovely name, if you really love it id definitely use it! I know its awful to say and i apologise in advance, but the dog won't be around forever. On a lighter note my 5 year cousin named her kittens brian and kelly, after her mum and dad! ha xx
