Hi everyone, I'm new to this group, so I thought I'd say hello! I've just had my second child, a little girl called Tia, this February. She is now 9 months old and turning into a little terror like her older sister!! She currently has a chest infection (I hate British weather!!) so isn't her normal self but I'm sure she'll be back to causing mayhem in no time!!

hi also done psychology and counselling courses in the past and loved it!! hope to get back into it again once kids are old enough to need me a little less! Am due baby no 4 next week, so bit of an old hand at this birth thing! though more nervous this time round coz i have had three pretty good ones so far (as good as you can do!)so due a difficult one! all been natural, no intervention and all gas and air! hoping to have a turn in birthing pool this time if I have time! will try and get a chance to do your study thing in next few days! had loads of pelvic pain this time round so a good reason to try and get in that pool for some natural relief- been given some co-codamol so am sucking them like bloody sweets! think when driving over speed bumps makes you cry due to the excrutiating pain it's time to reach for the big boys! just me having a moan- but that's another good thing about this site- you can just rant and no one minds!
By the time you read this reply hopefully you will have your lovely new baby with you. How did it go? I hope it all well smoothly.

Wow, baby number 4... this is my first. I have to say, even though I've been carrying out birth related research for so long I am still very very nervous about actually giving birth. Any tips? Did you use the birthing pool? I would like to, if it's available. I also want to try to just make do with gas and air.

Thanks so much for saying you'll complete the questionnaire - even more so because you were just about to give birth!! You're a star....

Take care,

Suzanne :-)

Hi everyone,

I hope you don't mind me joining your group. My name is Suzanne and I'm an expectant mum and full-time research psychologist working in the UK. I'm hoping you will share your memories for your most recent birth experience by taking part in some research I'm undertaking looking at memory for childbirth.

I am conducting the research study at Sussex University with the help of Dr Susan Ayers who is a very experienced researcher in the area of postnatal psychological distress in this country. The current research investigates women's general memory, their memories of childbirth, and how these may (or may not) be associated with post natal psychological distress. This type of research can contribute enormously to our understanding of birth related psychological distress, so your help would really be appreciated.

If you have given birth within the past year, I hope you might be willing to take part and will find the questionnaire interesting. Once you click on the link below, you will be asked to download an application - please rest assured this is not harmful to your computer and is safe to download. The application can be automatically removed from your computer once the study is completed. The questionnaire should take approximately 20 minutes to complete.

For further information and to take part, please go to:

http://139.184.162.156/memory_and_birth_study.htm

If you would like a summary of results from this research, once it is completed, please contact me on my email address listed below. Or if you would like further information before taking part in the study, please also feel free to email me.

Thank you so much for your time.
