Hello,
My daughter carlotta was born at 30 +1 and weighed only 1lb 7, apparently she was the size of a 26 week old. She came out crying and was on cpap for one week, she finally came home just before her due date, she did well in hospital and was lucky that she didn't have any serious problems, she did have two blood transfusions and suffered a lot with bradys which we now know was due to bad reflux which she still suffers with. She is now 7 months old and weighs 12lb 9 and is a very smiley, happy baby. It was one of the hardest times of our lives, not knowing what would be, but we are now so lucky to have our baby home. My heart goes out to all of you.
hi
my son was born at 29weeks on 19/11/08. he weighed 3lb 3oz he was on a breathing machine for 3days at 2months olde he had to have a blood transfusion he came home on the 5/02/09 he weighs 11lb 2oz now.
My little boy was born at 34 wks which was a bit of a shock as my previous 2 had been late. Everything was so scary for the first few days especially with all the alarms and monitors. Just having him come off cpap felt like a major milestone and I didn't sleep for 2 days when they removed his apnea monitor from his incubator!
He is now a beautiful and healthy 8 month old. I think the hardest part was making time for my older 2 whilst Aidan was in hospital

Hi,
After IVF treatment and being extremely ill in intensive care due to it I had my gorgeous little girl, Sophia, at 28 week gestation. She weighed 2lb 2oz at her lowest and is now 5lb. She is still in SCBU and the staff are fantastic. It has been the most worrying time of my life. Looks like she'll be having her 2nd blood transfusion which is quite stressful. Can't wait to bring her home.

Hi everyone id just like to let you all know what me and my twins have been through so that anyone going through the same knows that there is a light at the end of the tunnel. I didn't have an easy pregnancy for lots of reasons but mainly i developed mastitis which led to two absesses which i had an opeation to remove when i was 24 weeks. My twins were born at 28 weeks Amelia weighing 2lb14oz and James weighin 3lb6oz. James needed help breathing with sipap at first and was quite poorly but amelia seemed to be doing well. Amelia then got an infection in her bowels NEC and was on triple antibiotics for 10 days and she didnt have anyfood for nearly 2 weeks. the infection left a stricture in her bowels which was removed when she was just 8 weeks old. she is not 100% yet and we just have to wait and see whether she grows out of it or not she has laxatives twice a day so is finiding hard to put on weight and is 13lb at 7 months old. My son James in now 22lb and a right little bruiser he had alot of more minor infection and spent less time than amelia in hospital but still 64 days. However until they were 5 months old we never had 2 weeks were one of them wasn't in hospital. theyve not had to stay in hospital for nearly 2 months now and are starting to crawl and talk and love to put absolutely everything in their mounths. Everything we have been through has been 100% worth it and the best advice i can offer is that they have the best babysitters money can buy and i know thats not as good as their mums and dads but you have to allow yourself some time off to strengthen yourself for when they come home. your babies will need you to be stronger than ever when they come home so make some ttime to concentrate on yourself.
