Hi, my name is Emma, i got told in 2006 that i have endo, they found this out as i went to my doctors and told him i was finding it hard to get pregnant, after seeing a consultant i have a lapscop and he told me that i have endo and a damaged tube and Pollysistic overies, and that if i was to get pregnant it would be one in a million! now in 2009 and after 5 yrs of trying i still have not got pregnant, has any one got any ideas please xx
I have had endo since I was 22, I've had two laparoscopies and one laser surgery. My partner and I have always been afraid we wouldnt be able to conceive, but decided to take the plunge and come off the pill (which I was mainly taking to ease endo pain) to see what happened. I fell pregnant within two months. I am now twelve weeks pregnant with my first.
Please dont give up hope. Think positive and stay calm. I wish lots of luck and happy thoughts to everyone with endo trying to conceive.
I was diagnosed with Endometriosis almost seven years ago when I was 22, I have had two laparoscopies, one to diagnose(included historoscopy where they looked into the womb), one to remove scar tissue and seperate adhesions (organs stuck together by scar tissue) and one in which i had ovarion drilling (I had chocolate cysts all over my ovaries), LUNA (nerves cut to the womb to reduce pain) seperation of adhesions again and removal of more scar tissue. I have had many hormone treatments over the years too including Danazol, Dimetriose Gestrinone, and Prostrap with HRT.
My husband and I tried for a baby when my symptons were not too bad and I was not on medication, we tried for about 9 months naturally without any luck. I started to get pain again and the practise of making babies was starting to get too painful and my periods started to be very irregular so timing 'day 14' was getting hopeless. I went to see my gynae who gave me Clomid which would help regulate my periods and increase my egg production/fertility. I was very lucky as after only one month on the tablets I fell pregnant, although I did have a lot of pain in the early and late stages of my pregancy due to my scar tissue stretching. I suffered a little bleed in the early stages to so I was put on Progesterone peseries to thicken my uterus wall and sustain the pregnancy. I am pleased to say that I had my daughter Isabel a year ago by C section and I am so grateful to all the doctors involved in my care. Without the skill of the surgeons I may never had had chance to be a mum.
Unfortunately after having Isabel my endometriosis flared up again and I have had another course of Prostrap with HRT. One important differece this time though is that I have a child now! I think its very important not to give up, if you think you might have Endometriosis push to see the gynae. The operations I have had over the years made a huge difference to me and enabled me to go on to have a child. Endometriosis has no current cure but there are treatments available which can make a huge differece. Endometriosis UK are a fab charity which help woman like us and raise awareness world wide.
Hi! I want to add some words of hope here too. My partner and I tried to conceive for six and a half years. Our fertility specialist in the UK failed to diagnose my endometriosis and I had no clue that I had the condition as I didn't have particulary painful periods. Later, when my partner and I moved to New Zealand I had to have investigations for an abnormal smear test. I was lucky enough to see a fantastic gynaecologist who, as well as ruling out any cervical abnormalities, happened to be an endometriosis specialist. She got interested in my fertility issues. She was convinced by her examination, my history and symptoms of what I thought was an irritable bowel that I had the condition. She performed laparoscopic surgery for what turned out to be severe endo. She told me the endo had completely surrounded both my ovaries so my eggs being released but were going nowhere. She removed all the endo tissue. Six months later I was pregnant. I have a gorgeous 18 month old little girl. I couldn't be a happier mummy. Make sure you get the best treatment possible. Seek out an endometriosis specialist. Not all gynaecologists have enough experience with this condition.
