Hi the mucus plug can be clear but will then reform it is called a show when it is streaked with blood, but this can also reform if labour doesn't start. This is the plug to stop infection

i was just wondering what exactly the mucus plug actually looks like as the midwife at the antenatal classes said that when it comes it should look like mucus/snot (hence the name mucus plug) and i feel that i have lost mine 2 wks ago but am v confused as some websites and books say that it is brown, pink and streaked with blood and mine looked more like snot.

Hi there, Just a thought, if your little one is sleeping on your chest, why dont you get one of your tshirts with your smell on and put it underneath him and then lay him on his front as if your re creating the way you put him to sleep, but not on you. (it really works) If you do this between 12 and 2 and make sure that he's awake no later than 2.30. Then if you put him to bed at 7.30 he's going to be exhausted. Hopefully he will sleep in longer. When you go to bed you can 'dream feed' him, which means whilst he's asleep you can pop a bottle in and he'll feed. Then he should stay asleep longer and may not wakr up at 3am. Good luck hope all goes well!!

My 4 month old was exactly the same, would only sleep on me until I put him on his front, now he sleeps during the day and at night time...He still wont go through the night mind you but that is a feeding problem I think !

Hope you get on ok, invite me as a friend if you want as our sons are the same age
