Hi there,
I hope you do not mind my joining the group. I got diagnosed with postpartum hypothyroid 1 month ago and am trying to find others in a similar boat to myself. I have been put on levothyroxine 100mcg and have had 3 thyroid storms to date which are horrible! Can anyone give me advice on coping with the ups and downs especially the aftermath of the storms which seem to last for days. or any other suggestions and help really.
Hi
I too am taking throxin and have been for about a year and a half. My thyroid used to be overactive, but is now underactive.
My friend who also has a thyroid problem recommended a book by Patsy Westcott called 'The Healthy Thyroid' which I found really helpful.
It sometimes takes a while to get your level of thyroxine right, so try to be patient. Keep going back to the Dr if you don't fel right. Things will improve and settle down.
The only advice I can offer really is to try and get a little exercise everyday and eat healthily. I find the tiredness is the hardest thing to deal with - especially with a little un, but, still trying to work out how to coe with this myself.
I notice that you are also a member of the big baby group, my baby although average at birth has at 9 weeks reached the 98th percentile on the chart. I was just wondering whether you were breastfeeding and whether you have a very wakeful baby too?
