Its Great to hear all this positive news from the more mature ladies lets say. did anyone get told about complications in us mature ladies in pregnancy?? I am 42 and have been trying for 8 years i have just been told to let nature do its thing. I had a missed miscarriage at 3months although the fetus was only 7/8 weeks gesation i didnt miscarry in away i thought i should i had to have the fetus surgically removed which was dreadful.

God that sounds like you are having a horrid time, I am sorry to hear that. We did try for over a year to get pregnant and I was optimistic despite people saying it was less likely after 40 to get pregnant. I did buy a fertility test after a while so that I could be sure of the right days when I was most fertile - the one I got was called Callista and was one that tests saliva rather than urine, plus it could be used over and over so you didn't have to keep buying new tests. I do think that women are getting pregnant later in life these days and so don't give up hope - the fact that you did get pregnant means that you can do it again. It's hard not to get too obsessed with it, especially building up to a period when you are waiting to see if it will come or not - I hated that bit. Try and relax a bit about it, although I would recommend a fertility test to improve your chances, and good luck!

Congrats on your new arrival!
I am currently 12 weeks with number 4 and only had my booking in app today! I am 42 so was rushed through for a scan next week andI will also have the nuchal fold scan too.
Did you have any other tests?
Hiya, sorry for not replying sooner, had not been on the site mucg. So number 4 eh? That will defo be a handful!! I had quite a lot of tests, including ine for diabetes where I had to have blood tests either side of drinking some lucozade to see how my body dealt with the sugar - I expect you will have that too. I also had more scans than with my first so that they could monitor the baby's growth as well as the placenta (they kept on about the fact that placentas do not work as well after the age of 40!). I loved having the extra scans though so that was not problem, I think that oneof the good things about being an older mum is that they give you extra special treatment and are much more careful with you so any problems get picked up and sorted out straight away. Towards the end I was having blood pressure tests every week to make sure everything was fine which picked up that it was slightly raised at the 38th week and they advised me to stay in hospital where I had my daughter less than a week later by c-section (elective as my uterus was not ready to give birth). My husband is adamant that we will not be having any more and I am inclined to agree but I just loved being pregnant so much I would not be too disappointed if it happened again! Good luck with the scans and enjoy your pregnancy!
