In a Nutshell
It’s a challenge to squeeze more than two child-seats in the rear of a car but the Multimac 1000 is, effectively, a bench that safely takes up to three kids and easily fits most models on the road.
Once fitted properly, the Multimac is considered safe and it is approved by most insurers. It can be supplied with Minimac rear-facing seats (£249 extra), suitable from birth up to 13kg.
The basic version is made of the same staid but hard-wearing fabrics found on most adult car seats but it can be re-trimmed
to match pretty much any car interior. That will cost about £500 extra, though.
Given that child-seats can’t be fitted into the front of many cars due to side-airbags, you will certainly drop jaws when you rock up to the school gates with three kids in the back of a super-mini.
This is not a cheap option – if arguably better value than a new car or multiple seats. But many parents will prefer to buy seats that are specifically suited to very young children.
Nothing. Other than perhaps the four-seat version of the Multimac (from £1,299) which, amazingly, can be fitted into a surprising number of average-sized cars.
