What is a travel system?

Technically speaking, this refers to any pram or pushchair that enables you to attach a suitable car seat directly on to it, so that a sleeping baby can be easily transferred to a vehicle.

These vary in style from those that are, essentially, a buggy, often with an optional carrycot, to pramettes, where the fabrics can be manoeuvred to convert it from a pram into a pushchair.

Value added

Of the models shown here, only the Obaby comes bundled with a car seat. Each of the others does, however, restrict your choice of car seat to some degree, so consider the cost of this, along with any seat adaptors needed or, indeed, other essential accessories such as raincovers, a carrycot, or even a second seat.

The headline price is rarely the whole story. Depending on how often (and quickly) you need to fold the pushchair, it’s worth asking for a demo before you buy.
