This Mothercare car seat is a really good price and will last your child until he needs a group 1 seat. It is fairly roomy, unlike other seats that can be overly tight and padded. This is not to say it is uncomfortable. It has side impact protection and a newborn head hugger. Another great perk to this seat, lies in its washable covers: easily removable covers cannot be under-estimated by parents, as any one who has suffered it knows, the smell of old milk festering through your car on a hot summer's day is stomach turning. The Mothercare Optic is also very light and easy to handle, which means that you won't regret the purchase on grounds of unforeseen weightlifting injuries.

The baby faces rearward and there is an integral harness, which helps to keep baby securely and safely in position. If you want to, you could use this car seat as a rocker too. This has advantages if your baby falls asleep while travelling: it is easy to lift him out of the car, still in his seat, and if he starts to reawaken, just rock the chair gently to soothe him. It is easy to fit in the car, so getting it in and out shouldn't be a problem either.
