Our favourite mummy hairstyles

When you have little ones, the way you look often slips to the bottom of your list of priorities. Who has time for whole afternoons at the hairdressers when your baby needs feeding, changing, and cuddles?

But the fact is, we still all want to look good, no matter how little time we have. Which is why we’re bringing you a list of our favourite mummy hairstyles that are simple, look great, and can be achieved in less than five minutes:

1.    The top knot
The top knot is one of the most fashionable hairstyles around this season. It looks amazing, but is deceptively easy to achieve. Pull all of your hair into a ponytail as high and neatly on your head as possible, then secure with a hair elastic. Take the end of the ponytail and twist into a loose and untidy bun.  Secure in position with bobby pins, and you’re ready to go! High fashion hair in less than five minutes: it’s that simple!

2.    The mummy bob
This hairstyle will require a trip to the hairdressers, but once you’ve had your hair cut into a neat bob styling it will be super-simple: it just needs brushing every morning!  If you have a round or heart shaped face, have your bob cut just below your chin level. If your face is long or rectangular, opt for a shorter softer bob.

3.    The plait
Plaits aren’t just for little girls: they can also look sophisticated for mums, and take just seconds to achieve. My favourite kind of plait is the messy fishtail, but a simple three strand plait can look just as sophisticated. Pull your hair towards one shoulder as you plait it, leaving your hair to one side for a casual but simple style perfect for the weekends.

4.    The simple ponytail
The humble ponytail gets a bad press, but done right it can look sleek and stylish. It also has the benefit of being the fastest hairstyle I know! Pull your hair into a loose ponytail at the nape of your neck, making sure you secure all of your hair into the hair elastic. Then run a little hair serum through the hair, starting about 2 inches away from the roots: this will give a slick sleek finish that will look perfectly polished.

The mummy bob, super easy??? Not mine iv got kerry katona/posh style bob and i have to blow dry it in sections like the hairdresser would evey morning to make it look nice, in all it takes a good 20 mins before im happy, i love how it looks but am thinking of growing it out when i get bfp so when lo's here i can just do the top not thing, it'll be so much faster!

i hate hate hate my hair!! My roots started to go grey & i'm only fricking 28 years of age! Having to constantly dye it is such a drag. Plus my hair's so thick & frizzy, you'd think i was the next ugly betty (just without glasses & braces). It's bellow the shoulder length atm so top knot is my fave (if i can call it tht!) style. I love having layers done when go to the hairdressers coz it thins my hair out & gives it a nice shape(?). But i usually go for "grown-up" or celeb styles coz simple pony tail or a bob makes me look like a teenager & being 5ft 4in nobody takes me seriously anyways AHAHAHAHA!!!!

I used to have my hair long but got 4 inches cut of it last week as it took ages to untangle and brush in the morning and i just can't be bothered with that. So its now sitting just 2 inches below my shoulders and it so easy. I do have to blow dry it though but i can tie it back if i want as well. If i blow dry it, it will sit quite nice and thankfully my son is well past the hair pulling stage. I used to wear it in a plait as it kept it neat and tidy. I hate having hair billowing about or in my face.

it really confuses me when people say oo short hair is much better for when you have the baby & I just think how though because it will require more styling , long hair you can shove up in a bobble & whala .. off you go :) xx
exactly hun if ur rushin shove it up...easy xx

My hair is easier to manage to longer it gets so since haiving my little man i have grown it really long and hopefully it will get longer and longer. I would have to do so much work to maintain a "mummy bob" that i would look like a bush every morning ha ha !!!
