What are mums truly worth? Answer: A lot

What are mums worth in financial terms? Answer: A lot! Mum-appreciated-280

Come on mums, we all feel unappreciated a lot of the time, well figures published by Mothercare ahead of Mother's Day may just help you realise your worth!

The report in to 'Gross Maternal Product' reveals that the economic value of mums is £452 billion, that's right, £452 billion which is equal to that of the financial and business services sector. In other words mums are at least as valuable in economic terms as bankers, brokers and hedge fund managers.

The 7.6 million mothers with dependent children constitute 15 per cent of the adult UK population. The combined value of their economic contribution, taking into account value created in the labour market and in the home, is £452 billion a year. The figure is equivalent to:

· 32 per cent of the total UK economy
· The economic output of the Netherlands
· 256 years' worth of Premier League salaries
· Twice the market capitalisation of Apple Inc
· 1.56 billion Bitcoins
