New book aims to help eczema sufferers Eczema-book-280

As many as 1 in 5 children and 1 in 12 adults suffer from eczema in the UK. Following a regular skincare routine can help keep the condition at bay.

With this in mind, AVEENO® has teamed up with popular children's author Penelope Harper to create a series of three books that follow the adventures of Ellie and her pet gecko Eddie who emphasis the importance of a skincare routine.

As part of the launch, AVEENO® has carried out research looking into the key issues parents' encounter, when trying to treat their child's irritable skin. The findings cover the importance of sticking to a skincare routine, the difficulties faced around the management of the condition and how informed and supported mums feel.

Some of the key findings from AVEENO®'s research includes:

• Just over 2 in 5 (43%) mums agree that their child finds it hard to understand why they need to apply cream every day

• Nearly half (47%) of mums agree that their child does not enjoy their emollient routine

• And 45% of mums stated that their child doesn't like using creams or lotions

The book helps to establish typical triggers that cause children's skin to flare up. It also offers simple ways to alleviate eczema and sensitive skin by introducing a daily routine of applying an emollient cream.
