Pet a duck in the dark
To raise awareness of the reality of childhood sight loss, children and parents can visit Vauxhall City Farm in London for free this week to learn about the sensory experiences of the farmyard.
Teaming up with the Royal London Society for Blind People, the blindfolded barnyard experience takes place on 22, 23, 29 and 30 July. The activities teach children and parents about the sounds, smells and textures of the farm through fun games and activities.
It's all part of the London without Limits festival, aiming to raise awareness about the loneliness that many blind young people experience.
From guessing herbs and flowers based on smell and stroking animals blindfolded, it's a family activity designed to raise awareness and help children learn by immersing them in the farmyard sensory experience. There's also under water play for children to guess the toy animals, feeling inside bags to guess wool from hay - and of course petting bunnies and ducks.
