Screens are taking over children's playtime
Children are spending more time in front of TV, computer, tablet and phone screens than playing outdoors.
A survey has revealed our children are less active than we were at the same age and they are spending over 14 hours a week staring at a screen - and that's during the summer. That's two hours a day and tots up to over three and a half days solid sat in front of a screen during the summer months.
Half of parents feel guilty about allowing their children too much screen time – over a quarter don't place any limits on their children's screen time.
Over three quarters of parents would prefer their children to spend more time outside, and 22 per cent admitted they regularly put their child in front of the TV because it's easier than planning activities.
Nearly half of parents that responded to the Go Ape survey felt their children would class playtime as watching TV.
