IKEA recalls bat cape

Ikea has recalled its Lattjo children's bat cape over health and safety concerns

Ikeacape

Ikea has received reports that its Lattjo cape has caused marks and scratches to the necks of three children. None of the children affected needed medical treatment, but Ikea is recalling it as a precautionary measure.

The cape has been sold in the UK since November, and anyone who has since bought it is urged to stop their child playing with it immediately.

You can return the cape to any Ikea store for a full refund.

Ikea said in a statement: ‘Ikea is recalling Lattjo bat capes after reports about three children that have received marks and scratches on the neck while using Lattjo bat capes. The cape got stuck and didn’t detach easily enough from the children’s necks. No injuries which required medical treatment have been reported but, due to the risk of strangulation or injuries to the neck, Ikea takes precautionary measures and recalls the product.’
