Craft workshops at The London Transport Museum

If you’re wondering how to amuse little ones during half-term why not head down to The London Transport Museum for some story-telling and art activities inspired by the 150th anniversary of the London Underground (wow, is it really that old?!) The museum will host story-time sessions and craft workshops for children based around their new exhibition - Poster Art 150 – London Underground’s Greatest Design. Let your little ones become artists of the Underground by creating posters to take home. Half-term is from Saturday 16th February to Sunday 24th and classes run each day. Story time runs from 11am-2pm and is suitable for children aged 3-7 years. The Make and Take craft workshops run from 11.30am to 2.30pm and children can choose a poster from the past and transform it into a poster of the future. This workshop is most suitable for children aged 4-12 years.

Party frocks and ribbons

Whether it snows again or not, we’re enjoying the evenings getting slowly lighter and that means imagining outfits for our little ones that don’t require thermal underwear, scarves, hats and grubby mittens. That’s why we love the new Spring/Summer range by Emma Levine Kids and Baby. Think flapper dresses and comfy cardi’s, plus, there’s nothing like a bit of tie-dye to remind us of our own misspent youth.

Keeping it healthy

A new campaign has been launched by the founder of Ella’s Kitchen Paul Lindley, called Averting a Recipe for Disaster: Our Children And Their Food – the campaign kicks off with a report which aims to tackle the ‘ticking time-bomb’ of diet-related diseases. Importantly the report calls for Britain’s Political parties to create a ‘Food Manifesto for the Under Fives’ – a long-term plan, with cross-party agreement to address poor nutrition and young children. Some of the ideas the report has put forwards include, free breakfasts for every child, making cooking compulsory at every school and improving support for new mothers.
