Want to get back in shape now baby’s crawling? A jogging buggy is just the job. Chris Riley investigates what’s hot to trot
BEST FOR... GLAMOROUS RUNS
Bugaboo Runner, £583, mothercare.com
IN A NUTSHELL
Seriously cool modular jogger from the Dutch brand beloved by the likes of Sienna Miller and Hilary Duff.
Suitable from nine months, it has 16in air-filled rear tyres, a 14in fixed front wheel, and built-in suspension. There’s also a three-position recline (including ‘sleep mode’), you can adjust the handlebars, and access the brake with either hand. Includes sun canopy and rain cover. Weight depends on your seat choice, but the chassis (plus adaptors) is 8.5kg. Dimensions when folded are 43 x 70 x 87cm and the max weight limit is 17kg (about three years of age).
If you’re already a Bugaboo owner, the good news is that the Runner can be used like an extension kit with four other Bugaboo seats: the Cameleon3, the Bee (as of 2010), the Donkey, and the Buffalo. That headline price of £583 comes down to £334 for the chassis – but you’ll need the adaptor package at an extra £15. Also, unlike most exercise buggies, you can position the seat so it’s parent-facing.
Little really, other than to note that recommended minimum age – if you’re itching to get back out there sooner, this may not be the one for you.
