Clever stroller-cum-car seat combos can really take a load off when travelling with baby. Chris Riley rolls out the latest versions
Britax B-Ready, £450 & Baby-Safe Plus SHR II, £140, britax.co.uk
IN A NUTSHELL
This newbie from Britax boasts bags of in-built flexibility – it’s suitable from birth with either the car seat or a Britax carrycot (£105), and in a handsome package.
The maximum weight is 17kg, so good until around the age of three. It has an aluminium chassis, the multiposition seat can be forward- or rear-facing, and it comes with integrated Click and Go receivers so you can attach your car seat/carrycot. It has a height-adjustable handle, an easy fold (down to 35 x 61 x 97cm) and a generous hood with UPF 50+ protection.
THE CAR SEAT
A 0+ seat with a max weight of 13kg, and a single-handed release from the pushchair. The cover comes off without having to dismantle the harness – useful for spillages. Installation: three-point seat belt, belted base or Isofix.
This is certainly a cleverly thought-through travel system. Want to add an extra seat for a sibling? Check. Find yourself blessed with twins? This little beauty will even take two inline carrycots. Told you it was flexible...
If you’re going to head down the second seat route, at £105 the costs aren’t exactly negligible. Plus you’ll lose all that lovely space underneath the main seat (although there is a small, but handy, rear storage pocket).
