I have a 2 year old boy and expecting no. 2 in October. I know the next one is going to be a girl which is great - seems really balanced to me. Last time around I was induced after he was 2 and a half weeks late and ended up have a c-section after about 36 hrs. I had wanted an active birth and was terrified by the idea of an operation. In reality it was perfectly OK and I don't feel in anyway cheated by the outcome.
