My name is Nifa McLaughlin and I am the editor of gurgle. I am also mum to a toddler called Ivy Meabh. Ivy was born five weeks early by Ceasarean section because she was breech and I had pre-eclampsia which was getting progressively worse. Ivy was a tiny 4lbs 7oz, but luckily she didn't have to go into intensive care. She did need feeding all the time because her stomach was so small and she had a touch of jaundice too. I exclusively breastfeed her and she continued to put lots of weight on. Now she's a healthy three year old who has started nursery and is a real chatterbox... Who has now been joined by her little sister Poppy, who is 14 months old. I managed to have a natural birth (VBAC) with Pops which I am very proud of. My labour was 7 hours with no drugs!I don't think I could have done without the gas and air! Poppy is now a boisterous almost 2 year old who is talking non-stop and definitely has a naughty streak. Ivy will be starting school in September which is much more scary for me than her! Luckily both my girls seem to adore each other, so far...
